Andrew Budge is a professor of graphic design at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and an internationally renowned designer and design scholar. The main interest is in the art of typography and how we can change and clarify meaning through the visual representation of text. In the design project of Swinburne University of Technology, he worked with students to develop their visual language skills and literacy, with a particular focus on typography, helping them develop a central position in typography practice in communication design. Currently, research is being conducted on how the visual language of AFL football is used by fans as a tool for identity and community formation, fascinated by related academic issues such as identity and location, material culture, communication and daily performance.
